Entries from May 2008
I let myself be inspired by book232 and joined in this blog game / meme / whatever you want to call it…
Aim of the game:
For one week, you are to post photographs taken during the day.
Rules:
1. You must take between 6 and 8 new photographs per day.
2. Your WITL must be consecutive. No skipping days.
3. You must post your photographs at the end of that day, some time after the last picture is taken.
4. Each photograph must have the time taken beneath and a title, with no other explanation.
You must post these rules at your first entry, then link back to it for the other six days so that people will know wtf you’re doing.
Your post must say “A Week in the Life of [your name/username], Volume [whatever day you're on].”
So, without further ado…

What happened to this society? Why doesn’t anyone teach the next generation a little respect for their fellow citiziens? Although I doubt that neither these kids nor their parents know the word “citizien”. But seriously, we weren’t like that 15 – 20 years ago, were we? We probably annoyed our parents and other grown-ups [I'm 33 and still don't really feel like a grown-up... at least not all the time] to some extent, but not like this. Not like these kids nowadays.
I might overlook their constant mobile phone conversations in public, because sometimes even I talk on the phone in public. But I would never and did never turn up the volume of the music on my phone, or any other device with a speaker. I would never force anyone in the temporarily confined space like a train wagon to listen to my music (and even less that type of crappy music). And neither would have or does anyone I know from my generation.
I know there probably still are a lot more well-raised teenager with some understanding of “what to do and what not” in public. But the ones I meet during my commute every day are really getting on my nerves most of the time. I usually don’t say anything though (yes, I’m a coward) but this time I was just SO annoyed by the guys sitting close to me, that I did and I asked them to turn down the volume or turn it off completely. They
didn’t, but instead decided to move themselves to another train wagon. I enjoyed the silence. For a few minutes until another couple got on board and of course they had to listen to some music too. But they sat to far away from me (I could still hear it) and I was getting of at the next stop anyway, but still… Why doesn’t it ever cross their minds, that their behaviour might be rude? Not to speak of their crappy taste in music. If you want to listen to “Listen To Your Heart” at least listen to the original and not some lame cover-version. At least show some respect for Roxette, if not for your fellow passengers…

I finally managed to watch the last two episodes of Brothers & Sisters and I had such a great time. I just love that family with all their craziness and their fights and problems and secrets but also with all their support for each other and all their love and just their way of being a family. I was strangely busy since Friday afternoon. And then, not really that busy, but just had too many things on my mind. Or just couldn’t think straight, because I was beating myself up over not being as effective with the things I actually wanted to do. Procrastination and all.
But I will start checking off things from my virtual “To-Do” List with this Grey’s review. I never thought I could fall in love with a TV show all over again, because I already love this show pretty much, but this episode totally blew me away. Maybe because it didn’t disappoint all of my great expectations? It’s not easy to put my thoughts into a coherent post, but I’ll try anyway. And it’s going to be a looooong post. (more…)

xcvlsdfgsdfdsofh…. That’s the only thing my totally incoherent mind can come up with after this episode. And of course…
OH. MY. GOD! I love this show!
I’ll try to be back with a more coherent review of the Grey’s finale, but I’m not sure when I will find time to write that. Watchting the episode over and over again will keep me busy (along with the all the other totally ordinary things I still have or want to do)

I cleaned my apartement and my patio, finally put the flowers into the flowerbed and keep my fingers crossed that they will survive my lack of gardening talent. After all of that I actually wanted to start ironing all the loads of laundry from last and this week. This got postponed by my attempt to finally get back into some kind of study routine. The Energy 1 paper is due in two weeks and I hadn’t worked on it for a month. There are just two assignments left for me to work on, because I have no idea how to solve the remaining two. I finished the first and probably will do the other one tomorrow, so that I can revise the paper on the weekend.
And then I found a new Grey’s sneak and had some dinner and I might finally start ironing now. Great way to spend a evening, right? No, not really. At least the one sneak was really really cute.

I promise I’ll try to keep my Paddy posts to a minimum once he’s stopped touring the world promoting MoH and doing adorable cute interviews. Have a look at this one from Norway and I hope the link is working because it didn’t work for me this evening. The conversation stirs to really weird places every once in a while, but it’s very funny and he seems to have a great time, so…

I’m an avid reader of Grey’s fanfictions, as some of you might have noticed. I usually don’t recommend any stories here, because… well, I don’t even know why I don’t :-). Probably because I don’t know which one to choose and if anyone would be interested in recommendations at all. And a lot of the stories I like are really really long, epic novel like long, so that might scare any reader away.
Anyway, I just read a beautiful one-shot. Wonderfully written with some really heartbreaking moments. It’s a great character study of Meredith and Derek and the persons they could turn into in the future (after episode 4.11 that is.) We all know that this future won’t happen, but I really enjoyed reading this. There is some porn in the first part, so be warned :-)
“You couldn’t have figured this out eight years ago? It’s been a long time. There’s a lot of water under the bridge. There’s so much water under the bridge that the bridge has been swept away. There is no bridge, Derek.”

A couple of weeks ago I was looking for the german DVD release date of “Enchanted”. I probably found out that the DVD would come out in early May, but then forgot about it, because I knew I would be in Canada then. So I’m not that Paddy-crazy after all :-)
This afternoon in the supermarket I was on my way to the checkout, when I saw the Enchanted DVD on a rack. Lots of Enchanted DVDs actually. I suddenly remembered the May release and immediately grabbed one from the rack. I didn’t even check the price, but hold on to it tightly and went to the checkout in an insanely giddy mood. I didn’t recognize myself. Well… I did in some way, I mean I KNOW that I can be a rather crazy and spontaneous fangirl every once in a while. And I wouldn’t have gotten it for cheaper price at Amazon or elsewhere anyway, as I found out later.
I already watched some of the bonus features, unfortunately there only are a few, bloopers and deleted scenes and such. Anyway I’m so looking forward to watch that movie again, because it was so different from the usual Disney movies. It was so-over-the-top sometimes that it was really really funny. And Paddy looking like he did in that movie certainly doesn’t hurt.
I also came across a nice Paddy interview in a gay (?) magazine, promoting Made of Honor. The part which made me grin widely was the last question:
What’s the oddest thing you’ve done with your character’s action figure from Disney’s Enchanted?
It’s not so much what I have done but what my friends have done with the doll — and then sent pictures of to my cell phone. They’ve put the doll in various sexual positions with other dolls — with Barbie and Ken.
Well, well, that’s some “friends” he’s got there :-)
So I’ll really have to squeeze this one into my long list of “to-watch-soon” DVDs, TVshows and other recorded stuff.
