Choose to be me, to be free, to be my way…”
These are lyrics from my favorite song at the moment and I just found them appropriate as a title for a new chapter in my online life. And to me these lyrics and the whole song also serve as resolution to trust my instincts and my own jugdement a bit more often and to worry a little less about what other people might think. To just “…choose the path that I believe in…” Which right now leads to blogging in a language, which is not my mother tongue. It might be a crazy idea and I don’t know if the following explanation will make any sense to anyone, but the good thing is, it doesn’t really have to :-)
I started my first blog (in German) in November 2004 and switched blogging services a couple of times. In February of 2008 I also started to blog in English for several reasons. I wanted to share my stories with a few not-german acquintances I found on livejournal.com. So I started to translate some of my posts from my blog to put them on my livejournal but that’s rather laborious and time-consuming.
But probably even more imporant is, that I’ve just got a mad love for this language since highschool. I read a lot of novels and watch quite a few TV shows in English. However, I’m not practicting that language much myself, so maybe this blog also serves as my own language training ground.
With the decision to switch my blogging language came the decision to switch the blog host. And the title. And the topics. And the categories. Start fresh. Clean slate and all. I hope some of my German readers might still be interested enough to continue reading and I’m sure their English language skills are more than sufficient to understand what I’m writing about. Comments are welcome in both languages, of course.
